Description
The Cave de Clochemerle is the showcase for wines from the commune of Vaux-en-Beaujolais. The village is better known as "Clochemerle" since the author of the novel "Clochemerle" acknowledged that our village inspired him to write the novel. The village is in the heart of the Beaujolais wine region, surrounded by vines, perched on a hillside with views across the Saône plain to the Alps.
The cellar is managed by a Board of Directors made up of men and women who are both winegrowers and wine enthusiasts. To select the wines, a tasting committee meets to choose new wines, vins de garde, rosés, whites and sparkling wines from the samples on offer. Among the vins de garde, a more structured cuvée is chosen to become the "Ponosse" cuvée of the year: in homage to the priest in the novel "Clochemerle".
The Cave is staffed by people who know the terroir, the wine and the tourist attractions of our beautiful region. The volunteers who make up the Board of Directors take it in turns to ensure the authenticity of their products.
The cellar also offers tasting packages for epicureans.
