Description

On the site of the former Ursulines convent dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries, architects Adrien and Claude Gaillard designed a museum with the aim of providing natural light to enhance the towns collections of paintings, sculptures, furniture and objets d'art. Around a vast atrium designed by Peter Rice, there are more than 1,500 works of art, from the early Middle Ages to the 20th century. A shallow ramp provides easy access to the exhibition areas, allowing visitors to view the works to their best advantage.
