Description
The Haut-Rhône ‘Port of Call’ Museum opened its doors to the public in June 2007. The museum describes in an interesting and fun fashion the formation of the River Rhône, its flora and fauna and lives of riverbank dwellers from prehistory to the present day, making full use of interactive displays, audio-visual guides, models and a sensory walk. There also exhibits of archeological objects, navigational tools and items from daily life from down through the ages that were used by mariners and local people. A Bac à Traille was a traditional boat that was used for crossing the River Rhône and since 2012 a permanent exhibition charting the story of these historic craft has opened at the museum.
