Description
This educational workshop comprises two complementary activities, supervised by a guide from the Pays d'Art et d'Histoire de Hautes Vallées de Savoie:
- a village visit with an educational booklet
- an indoor workshop based on a scale model
This activity is in line with French national education programs, in particular the geography curriculum, which aims to describe and understand how people live and develop their territories. This program includes education for sustainable development, in conjunction with the science curriculum.
Workshop schedule :
- Visit to the village (1h30)
Wander through a village with the help of a game booklet that children fill in as they discover the village.
How did Savoyards once live in mountain villages? How did families adapt their homes to the constraints of slopes and climate? What materials were used in the past?
How has the village developed today? What are the challenges of life in the mountains?
All these questions, and many more, are tackled on a scale appropriate to the children's knowledge, as they wander through the village.
- Model workshop (1h30)
At school, in a vacation center, or in a hall, the workshop is based around 4 interactive models reproducing the slopes of mountain ranges, with their relief, watercourses, vegetation and valley bottoms...
Working in small groups, children design the mountain and valley floor using accessories (cubes, plates, colored rods, etc.), taking into account what they've learned during their visit to the village.
At the end of the workshop, each group presents its creations to the whole class.
Opening
From 01/09 to 01/07, every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
