Description

Château de Champ-Renard, a winegrowing estate since 1765, is located in the heart of the Beaujolais region. With its 7.5 hectares of vines, it benefits from excellent south-east exposure and a diversity of siliceous, granitic and limestone soils, giving great diversity to the estate's wines. The vineyard, planted mainly before 1939, has a low planting density. Three grape varieties are grown: Gamay and Gamaret for the red wines, and Chardonnay for the white wines.
Since 2015, the château has been owned by the Vilain-Garnier family, who are committed to an eco-responsible project. The estate is farmed organically, and biodiversity is also promoted with an agroforestry project and beehives. The uniqueness of the Domaine's wines is the result of the owners' choices in terms of vine-growing and winemaking.
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and brought in when ripe. We work with old vines that are 60 years old on average, which results in well-structured wines with good substance. We favor long maceration and ageing. Several of our cuvées are aged in oak barrels. We produce EVE VEGAN®-certified wines, which guarantee that our products contain no ingredients of animal origin. Our approach is of course aimed at vegan, vegan and vegetarian consumers who do not wish to consume an animal product, but also at people allergic to albumin or casein.
All stages of winemaking, including bottling, are carried out at the Château, guaranteeing optimal traceability. Our aim is to reveal the excellence of our terroir and the typicity of our parcels.
We offer red wines in the Beaujolais Villages and Vin de France appellations, and white wines in the Bourgogne and Beaujolais Villages appellations; some of our cuvées have no added sulfites. Our wines regularly win awards: Guide Hachette, Robert Parker, Decanter, Guide Dussert-Gerber, Gilbert & Gaillard, etc.
Craftsmanship, respect for the environment, long working hours, innovative techniques and a commitment to excellence... these are just some of the principles they share, with the sole aim of bringing out the very best wines every year. Epicureans and aficionados of the new, discover the Château's cuvées: old vines, aged in oak barrels, without added sulfites, vegan, etc.
The Château is also open for guided tours and wine workshops. During our guided tours, you'll discover the history of Beaujolais winegrowing, the Château's great story and its little anecdotes, vine cultivation and winemaking techniques, the romantic 19th-century English-style park, the old medieval rooms and the Château's completely renovated private salons.
