Description
Natural fiber of animal origin, made of two proteins (sericin and fibroin), silk is fully ecological. The silkworm, Bombyx Mori, which spins the fiber was fed only by mulberry leaves. It is therefore an authentic fiber serving as a reference for other textile fibers. On a global scale, its production is small, which makes it a precious and rare product.
From May to November, depending on the mulberry season (availability of mulberry leaves at the Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon mulberry plantation), you can see yourself the natural and living process of making this wonderful yarn that is the silk thread.
Beggining with June our mini-farm includes the complete cycle of the silkworm from the hatching of the caterpillars until the spinning of the cocoon and the emergence of the butterfly, passing through the 5 ages of the silkworm.
