Discover the rich universe of the legendary designer of «Valerian and Laureline», Jean-Claude Mézières, through an incredible collection of drawings and original boards from the author’s archives!
Jean-Claude Mézières (1938-2022) is a major draftsman of the 9th Art. With screenwriter Pierre Christin, he created the comic book «Valerian and Laureline», whose first adventure appeared in the newspaper Pilote in 1967.
Christin and Mézières, joined by colourist Évelyne Tranlé, sign with Valerian a masterpiece of science fiction in comics. The series has twenty-three albums, translated in more than twenty countries, and adapted for cinema by Luc Besson in 2017.
The same Luc Besson, for whom in 1997, Jean-Claude Mézières created the mythical taxi-volant of Corbell Dallas for the film «The 5th Element» as evidenced by the room dedicated to his experience as a storyborder for the cinema.
This major exhibition, the first since the disappearance of Mézières in 2022, highlights how this major artist has shaped his style, as we fight, to achieve a work that revolutionized Science Fiction in comics, and beyond…
