Description

The Viuz Faverges Archeological Museum consists of three rooms filled with artifacts found locally during tests and formal excavations. These objects, ranging from the commonplace to the extraordinary, illustrate the history of human settlement in the area. From the stone Age, axes and tools; from the bronze and iron Ages, jewelry, coins, pottery, tools as well as a huge gallo-roman cauldron. The museum is located next to the Viuz Saint Jean-Baptiste church, whose Romanesque choir dates back to the 12th Century and houses older foundations of several successive buildings dating back to gallo-roman times as well as early christianity. An exceptional and unique whole in Savoie.

From 01/01 to 16/06 between 2.30 pm and 6.30 pm.
Closed Saturday and Sunday.
Closed exceptionally on January 1st, Easter Monday, Feast of the Ascension, May 1st and May 8th.

From 17/06 to 31/08 between 2.30 pm and 6.30 pm.
Closed on Sunday.

From 02/09 to 20/12 between 2.30 pm and 6.30 pm.
Closed Saturday and Sunday.
Closed exceptionally on November 1st and November 11th.
Open on 21 and 22 September 2024 for the European Heritage Days.
