Haut-Bugey Tourism: 1st tourist office in France to receive the Qualidog label

On Saturday, September 16, 2023, the Qualidog label will be officially handed over to the Haut-Bugey tourist office, which has been committed for more than a year to improving the reception of dogs and their owner while staying in its territory. It sensitizes the tourism partners of Haut-Bugey to adapt to the needs of these many customers often easy to satisfy by small attentions.

The Qualidog Label is a quality benchmark for more than 4.5 million wouafers.

Depending on the proposed arrangements, the certified establishment obtains a classification of 1 to 4 truffles.

 The approach of the tourist office

 Haut-Bugey Tourisme embarked on a dog friendly approach in May 2022, motivated by the desire to set an example in terms of dog hospitality.

Concretely, water bowls are made available, the stay advisers are specially trained to welcome the owners and their dog… The shop has also been enriched with canine accessories: flasks/cups, collars and leashes, treats, ticks…

The tourist office sensitizes its partners to the reception of this clientele with dog, starting with the hosts. Seven of them have signed the dog-friendly charter.

 Interest in the tourism economy

 Today, 18 million French people own a dog. Made up mainly of young active retirees and young couples without children, this clientele, travelling during the off-season or during the off-season, is of the utmost interest to tourism stakeholders. By positioning itself as a territory facilitating the stays of wouafers through the Qualidog label, Haut-Bugey ensures the attendance of a new clientele.
