Entirely renovated by the state of Savoie, one of the oldest buildings in Chambéry opened its doors on April 29.The Museum of Savoie History and Cultures transports you from the Paleolithic to the present day. You can discover more than 2,000 objects displayed over a space of 2,000 m2. The Cruet’s mural paintings, a major piece of the collection, are presented in a configuration close to that of the fortified house in which they were found. They rub shoulders with a canoe from the High Middle Ages discovered in the Lake of the Bourget, and also with an old Courchevel gondola. Created by the famous designer Charlotte Perriand, you can see as well a bathroom from the end of the 1960s coming from an apartment in the ski resort of Les Arcs 1800. You will experience an original museography and a refined atmosphere for a timeless visit. And because all tastes are in nature and culture, the cloister is fitted to host shows, concerts, workshops and other events.
