New & Unmissable

New at the National center for theatrical costume and design!

Since 8 April 2023, the National Center for Theatrical Costume and Design offers a new exhibition space giving visitors an immersive look into the creation of a set design, from the initial design sketches to its installation. A building designed to look like an authentic theater!
Behind the scenes!

The visit begins in a projection room with an immersive experience offering visitors a chance to meet set designers of different generations and with different styles.

Next, the visitor is taken on a journey in three acts, through each step of the design process, from the first sketches to the first performances on stage.

ACT 1

The set designer’s office

This is where it all begins, sketch books, plans and models illustrate how the set designer works in the initial design phase.

Act II

Dive into the heart of the production workshop to discover the skills and craftsmanship that bring the set to life.

ACT III

A full-scale reproduction of a 12-metre-high theater stage

where you can see part of the set for “Cyrano de Bergerac” designed by Eric Ruf for the Comédie-Française in 2006.

La Scène is a semi-permanent space designed as an authentic and flexible theatrical experience that you will be able to discover and rediscover with each visit to the CNCS.
