Description

You are invited to discover 130 years of history of a great Lyon family that found its way into the silk industry in 1890: 4 generations, 9 Brochiers and several hundred thousand metres of silk woven and printed for the greatest names in haute couture and the arts of this century.

Discover the dresses of Christian Lacroix, Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent, James Galanos, Chanel and Christian Dior created with Soieries Brochier fabrics. The creations of the great masters Miró, Calder and Cocteau are testimony to the strong links between artists and the Brochier family.

Discover how a taste for innovation has enabled the Jacquard loom to be adapted to create technical fabrics for the Concorde, the Radeau des cimes and the Venus sounding balloons, and how silk thread is now being woven with fibre optics to create the fabrics of tomorrow.

The Museum also welcomes curious silk enthusiasts for weaving workshops using wool and silk.
